Creating & Editing Access Codes
Access Codes are created separately from Ticket Types so that they can be applied to multiple different ticket types at once.
- On your event, navigate to Marketing & Promotion and then Ticket Access Codes. Similar to promo codes, access codes are managed separately from individual ticket types but can apply to one or many ticket types.
- Click the Add an Access Code button. Now you are able to complete your access code settings:
- Access Code Name: Enter the name of your access code. This will be entered by the customer on the tickets page to reveal the hidden ticket types.
- Access codes can only be up to 30 characters long
- Access codes are not case sensitive
- Is this access code active? Determines if the ticket access code is active or inactive
- Set End Timer for Access Code: Set an overall expiration timer for the entire access code and then choose if tickets should become available to the public or remain
- Ignore ticket restrictions after the timer expires: When the timer is no longer valid, tickets should be directly for sale on the tickets page. If this setting is OFF, then the restricted tickets will continue to be hidden
- Order Usage: Set the number of orders the access code can be used on
- Unlimited: No limit on the number of orders this access code can be used on
- Limited: Specify the total number of orders this access code can be used on (i.e. 50 orders total)
- Apply to Tickets: Determine the ticket type(s) this access code can unlock. You need to choose at least one ticket type to enable the access code.
- Enable All / Disable All: Use these buttons to either enable this access code for all ticket types or disable for all ticket types.
- # Total Ticket Usage: The total number of tickets this access code can be used to purchase across all orders. Use '0' for unlimited.
- Example: 100. Across all orders, this access code can only be used to purchase or order 100 of this ticket type. You can set the min/max number of tickets per order on the individual ticket type settings.
- Alternatively, you can set the total number of tickets available in the individual ticket type settings.
- Restrict By Date/Time: Enables this access code to only unlock this ticket type within a specific time period.
- Access Code Name: Enter the name of your access code. This will be entered by the customer on the tickets page to reveal the hidden ticket types.
Bulk Creating Access Codes
If you need to create more than one access code with the same ticket type settings, use the "Add multiple access codes" feature.
1. Click " Add multiple access codes". This will reveal a larger area where you can input your access codes.
2. Paste your access codes into the bulk upload area separated by a comma, semi-colon, or new line.
3. Once you save your access code settings, the access codes will be uploaded. Enter an email address to receive a notification when the access codes finish uploading.
4. Customize your individual ticket type settings and hit Save at the bottom of the page. Your access codes will now be uploaded.
Managing Ticket Types with Access Codes
As soon as you create an access code, the restricted ticket types will display a yellow lock in the status column to indicate it has an active access code restriction.
If a ticket type still restricted by and access code, but the access code is inactive, a red lock will display indicating that this ticket is still restricted but cannot be unlocked.
On the ticket type, you can view all access codes associated with this ticket.
If you'd like to make a ticket type inactive, disable all the access codes associated with the ticket type and set the ticket type visibility to inactive.
Access Code Display Settings
Access Code Display settings are located under Marketing and Promotion > Ticket Access Codes. You can customize the text that appears before and after entering an access code, as well as where the access code entry appears on your Tickets page.
Tips
- The same access code can unlock multiple ticket types. Conversely, multiple access codes can unlock the same ticket type.
- Sending an email marketing campaign? You can add ?p=ACCESSCODE to the end of the tickets page URL which will auto-fill the password and unlock tickets for the user. For example https://tickets.yourdomain.com/e/summer-bash-event/tickets?p=unlockme
- Access codes can be used to unlock tickets for sponsors, students, members, marketing campaigns, and more.
