Password Protected Events

Have an event that needs to be restricted to only people with a password? Follow these instructions to make your event password protected. You can choose to set one password for the overall event or create individual passwords for different attendees. Password settings are located under Marketing & Promotion > Event Passwords

Tip: Password protecting the event limits the visibility of the entire event. If you need to password protect some, but not all, ticket types, learn more about ticket access codes.

Event Password Types

To set an overall event password, set "Password Protect Event" to "Single Event Password." Then, enter your event password and save. This will be the only password that can unlock the event.

To use individual event passwords, set "Password Protect Event" to "Multiple Event Passwords" and save. Then select "Add an Event Password."

For each event password, you can customize the start time, end time, and number of orders the password can be applied to. Once the order limit is reached, the event password will be removed and can no longer be used.

To create several passwords at once, select "Add multiple event passwords" below the password name and enter a comma separated list of passwords. You can bulk create up to 200 event passwords at time.

Managing Your Event Password

If you'd like to disable password protection on your event, set "Password Protect Event" to "Password Protection Off."

Alternatively, if you know in advance when you'd like to turn off password protection you can set a time to disable it automatically under "Show Advanced Fields."

How Password Protection Works for Attendees

If your event has a password requirement, attendees are required to enter the password to unlock the event pages. Before entering the password, they can only see general information about your event like the date and location. You can customize the password protection page message under Event Passwords > "Show Advanced Fields".

Tips & Best Practices

  • Your event must be published to use the event password, password protection does not work in draft mode.
  • Password protection is a great way to share your event with colleagues and team members before making it available to the general public.
  • Event passwords are case-sensitive and must be entered by the attendee exactly as set. For example, if the event password is Event10, entering event10 will not unlock the event.
  • Individual event passwords with order limits can be used to offer limited tickets to specific groups of attendees like a membership list. In this case, it's common to create an event password for each member's email.
