Tap to Redeem is an alternative, simplified check-in method for event attendees that doesn’t require any check-in devices or hardware for check-in staff. When Tap to Redeem is enabled, attendees can check-in their ticket using their mobile tickets without needing an event staff member to check them in.

Tap to Redeem Use Cases
When Tap to Redeem is enabled on an event, the mobile tickets attendees receive will include a Redeem button directly on their mobile ticket. Attendees can check themselves into an event by tapping the Redeem button on their mobile tickets while visually showing a staff member during the check-in process.
When using Tap to Redeem, tickets do not need to be scanned using the check-in app and event staff are not required to have additional hardware for check-in. Instead, you’re relying on the attendee’s mobile tickets to do the heavy lifting for you.
Common Events & Scenarios
- School sporting events with volunteer check-in staff
- Non-profit or low-budget events without check-in devices
- Lack of WiFi/charging stations on-site dedicated to check-in
Tap to Redeem can also be used with Access Points for advanced check-in scenarios such as:
- Beer festivals where each attendee can check-in once to each vendor booth
- Pre-purchased merch pick-up where an attendee can use Tap to Redeem to verify they’ve received their item

Setting Up Tap to Redeem
To enable Tap to Redeem, first go to Event Settings. Click the More tab, then Additional Settings, and enable Allow Tap to Redeem for Mobile Tickets.
When Tap to Redeem is enabled, it is strongly recommended to turn off PDF tickets since attendees will be checking-in using their mobile tickets. To disable PDF tickets, go to Edit Tickets & Merch, click Ticket Settings, and disable the Send PDF Tickets setting.
