Multi-Day Event Types
Sessions
Pros
- Calendar selection tool
- Sell tickets to different dates and times on one Parent event
- On the event listings page, you can just have your Parent event visible and send out that link so ticket buyers can choose their desired date and time, instead of many individual event links to send out
Cons
- Reporting needs to be done per child event, there is not one report on the parent event that includes all individual child event attendee data
- No ability to change tickets to a different date, the customer will need to repurchase and then their original order can be refunded
Use Cases
- Sports watch parties
- Multi-Day events across a period of time
- Movie showings
- Holiday events
- Tours
- Recurring weekly events
Shopping Cart
Pros
- One event page with multiple ticket offerings over a certain period of time
- Reporting for all offerings, dates, and times can be downloaded from the one event instead of across multiple individual events
- Customers can purchase different types of tickets for different sub-events/dates/times in one order
- All tickets on this event scan successfully via their corresponding Access Point
Cons
Shopping cart events are overall not compatible with:
- Seating
- Subtickets (multi-price tickets)
- Modal/iFrame integration
- Compact dropdown
Shopping cart access point pages are not compatible with:
- Ticket groups
- Gratuity
- Access codes
- Waitlist
Use Cases
- Multi-Day events in general
- Film Festivals
- Large event with sub-events
- Boat Tours
- Conferences, Beer/Wine Festivals, Music Festivals
Timed Entry
Pros
- One event with many dates, times, and ticket offerings
- Flex Check-In: a feature that allows scanning tickets across multiple time slots on the same day without changing the time slot you're scanning for.
- Easy date and time switches
Cons
Timed entry events are not compatible with:
- Sub-tickets (multi-price tickets)
- Multi-person tickets
- Ticket tier on sale settings (show when another type sells out)
- Linked tickets
- Gratuity
- Access codes
- Ticket groups
- Post-purchase registration
- Seating
- Event embeds (iFrame/Modal)
- Waitlist
**Some of these features will work on just the tickets page for a timed entry event and not the access point pages, but they are not recommended on timed entry events in general.
Use Cases
- Holiday Market
- Tours with multiple times per day across a period of time
- Meet and Greets with specific time slots
- Cruises
- An event with time slot specific needs i.e Ice Skating 1-2pm, 2-3pm, etc.
Ticket Groups
You can create Ticket Groups for each date of your event to keep it super simple. This allows you to keep all dates on one event, separated by a simple expanded or collapsed group on the checkout page.
