Creating Seating Chart Events

Seating allows you to correlate tickets with specific seats on a seating schematic.  You can also do booth selection (for a convention), Tables (for a banquet) and even schematics with images behind them (to help clarify the space).

This article reviews how to create seating chart events.

Creating a Schematic and Setting up the Event

To begin with a seating event, you will need to contact a support representative at support@event-help.com. A one time charge is initiated and a member of the support team will gather information about your event and schematic to begin a custom build.
You will supply ticket details, and an image of the schematic with seats labeled.  Please allow 5-10 days for schematic build before your event goes live. Once your schematic has been created, you will be able to create an event (or multiple events) associated with the schematic.

Linking Your Event/Ticket Types to a Schematic

Create the basics of your event, and send the link to the event to a support representative at support@event-help.com. They will link the event to your schematic (free).

After your event and schematic have been linked, follow these steps to link Ticket Types:

  1. Select "Edit Tickets & Merch" and then "Ticket Types" from the left navigation
  2. Select (or create) the desired ticket type.  Now that your event is linked to a schematic, the ticket type options will now have "Seating Chart Category" under the usual "Ticket Type Name" and "Price Per Ticket". Here you can select what part of the schematic you want to have tied with this ticket type.

  3. Make sure to "Save" to finalize. Repeat with other ticket types as needed.

Additional Seating Options

You can customize the seating settings for your event in Edit Tickets & Merch > Ticket Settings

  • Show Seating Chart By Default: Choose whether the seating chart should be visible by default. If disabled, the seating chart will be hidden until the customer clicks "Select Seats."
  • Seating Chart Display Location: Choose whether to display the seating chart above or below the non-seated Ticket section. This option is only available if you are showing the seating chart by default.
  • Seating Reservation Hold Time: The number of minutes a user has to complete their order once the seating chart has loaded. Once the time limit is reached, their cart will be cleared freeing up the seats for other customers.
  • Prevent Orphan Seats: If enabled, customers will be prevented from leaving a single seat in between two purchased seats. There must be at least two seats in between the next unavailable seat, to prevent empty single seats between attendees.
  • Max Seats Per Order: The maximum number of seats allowed per order.
